FKF Premier League 2026/27: 18 clubs and a title defence by Gor Mahia
Gor Mahia won the 2025/26 league on 69 points, five clear of AFC Leopards, for a 22nd title. The 2026/27 season carries 18 clubs, and the Football Kenya Federation closed the transfer window on 2 September 2026.
The eighteenth place was settled off the pitch. The second leg of the promotion play-off at Ulinzi Sports Complex was abandoned in the 64th minute on 6 October 2026. On 9 October the FKF Leagues and Competitions Committee ruled that Kariobangi Sharks had forfeited it, awarded Mombasa United a 2-0 win and promoted them.
After four rounds Gor Mahia lead on 12 points from four wins, with KCB second on 7. Ulinzi Stars sit seventeenth on 2 points and Mombasa United last on 1. Migori Youth and 3K came up with Mombasa United, so three of the 18 are playing their first top-flight season.
The federation's own table and fixture list are published on footballkenya.org, and the board on the Kenya home page prints the next round beside the ranking.
Matchweek 5 prices on the Kenya board
Each row of the board carries the best 1X2 price among the ranked brands for that match. When the feed refreshed on 31 October 2026, 22Bet held the top price on six of the nine fixtures and Melbet on two.
Gor Mahia against KCB, the leaders against the second-placed side, is the pick of the round. 22Bet prices Gor Mahia at 1.79, the draw at 3.10 and KCB at 4.76. AFC Leopards against Kakamega Homeboyz is 2.30, 2.77 and 3.19 at the same brand.
Melbet leads on Nairobi United against Bandari at 2.14, 2.88 and 3.40, and on APS Bomet against Murang'a Seal at 2.22, 3.00 and 3.08. Shabana against Kenya Police is the closest line on the board, 2.59, 2.71 and 2.72 at 22Bet.
A local round is priced late. Two fixtures still showed no price on the Saturday, and a league leg goes into a weekend multibet on match day, after the European legs are already in.
What KSh 500 on a league match returns after the withholding tax
Start with the deposit. A KSh 1,000 M-Pesa deposit at a GRA licensee carries the 5% excise from the Finance Act 2026, so KSh 950 lands in the account. A KSh 500 single comes out of that balance.
At 1.79 on Gor Mahia, KSh 500 returns KSh 895 before tax. The 5% withholding on the payout takes KSh 44.75, and KSh 850.25 reaches M-Pesa. At 4.76 on KCB, the same stake returns KSh 2,380, and KSh 2,261 arrives after the deduction.
The tax changes how two prices compare. A 1.79 at a licensed brand pays the same as 1.70 at a book that deducts nothing. A shorter price on an offshore site is a worse deal than it looks, before the missing complaint route is counted.
Price is where the ranked brands differ on a league match. A 1.79 at one book and a 1.85 at another is KSh 30 on a KSh 500 stake, every round for 34 rounds.
Goals, both teams to score and the midweek rounds
Beyond the match result, the markets with depth on a league fixture are over or under 2.5 goals, both teams to score and double chance. Correct score and first goalscorer appear on the televised match of the round and thin out on the rest.
Matchweek 4 ran midweek, on 28 and 29 October 2026, with Gor Mahia winning 1-0 at Kakamega Homeboyz and Mara Sugar holding AFC Leopards to 0-0. Midweek rounds carry afternoon kick-offs, 14:00 to 16:15, so an in-play punter needs the betting app open during working hours.
The next midweek slot on the board is KCB against APS Bomet on Friday 6 November at 16:00, unpriced as of 31 October. Prices for a Friday league match arrive on the day.
Questions punters ask
Why do some league matches on the board show no price?
A price is printed only once a ranked bookmaker has published one for that match. Local fixtures are priced closer to kick-off than English games, so a Monday match often shows nothing on Friday. Migori Youth against Mombasa United and Tusker against Mara Sugar were unpriced when the feed refreshed on 31 October 2026.
Is a league win taxed the same way as an English Premier League win?
Yes. The 5% withholding under the Finance Act 2025 comes off every sportsbook payout a licensed bookmaker makes, whatever the league. The 5% excise under the Finance Act 2026 is charged on the deposit before any match is chosen. A KSh 1,000 deposit therefore credits KSh 950 at a GRA licensee.
